Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is a treatment to improve the texture, clarity and appearance of your skin. Laser resurfacing can treat fine lines and wrinkles of the entire face, or in the eye area only. It can also remove superficial sun and age spot, even out pigmentation, and improve superficial scarring. The best candidates are light skinned individuals who do not smoke and do not have a history of hypertrophic (raised) scars. Darker skinned individuals may have an increased risk of pigmentary abnormalities (darker or lighter patches of skin) after laser resurfacing.

Dr. Lu utilizes carbon dioxide laser which precisely removes the outer layer of skin with its abnormalities, allowing a new layer of skin to regrow in approximately 7-10 days. Meticulous skin care with gentle soaking, washing, avoidance of trauma and generous application of ointment is required after laser. New skin will be tight, shiny and red for up to three months but makeup can be utilized to camouflage the color. Strict sun avoidance for one year after laser resurfacing is important to maintain good results.
